5 Ways To Save On Your Heating Bill
September 22, 20215 HVAC Troubleshooting Tips You Should Know
October 6, 2021It’s getting to be that time of year where the temperature goes down and your heating bill goes up. It seems inevitable year after year, but it doesn’t need to have the impact it usually does. There are things you can do around the house to prepare for the colder weather while cutting down on that bill. Last week we went over five ways to save on your heating bill, well… Here are five more ways:
Get cooking
On a cold day, nothing warms up the heart and stomach like some homemade food. But here’s the best part— you can warm up your house just by using the oven. On top of that, if the house is warmed already, then your heat won’t have to kick on. Two birds, one stone.
Buy curtains and shades
Did you know that 30% of heating loss in your home happens through the windows? Drafty windows can be problematic but can be solved easily with thick curtains and blinds. Not only will this help keep your home warm, but it will also add some style too.
Replace air filters
It seems obvious and maybe it is but we don’t all do it. Whether we can’t be bothered or we simply can’t remember to — we should. Follow the instructions and change the filters as needed and you will be happy you did. A warmer home and a lighter heating bill is a fair trade for just a few minutes of your time.
Use ceiling fans
If you have a ceiling fan — you’re in luck! Contrary to popular belief, ceiling fans don’t only just cool down a room. With the simple flick of the secret switch at the base of the fan, you can reverse its rotation. Spinning the fan clockwise instead of counterclockwise will help pull down the heat in the room that has risen to the ceiling.
Use a space heater
If you’re working remotely and you don’t feel like heating the entire house, just think smaller. Using a space heater in your home office space can be a quick and easy way to well.. heat your space. It’s cost-efficient and convenient and will make your days working from home warm and cozy.
